The Israeli army has placed its forces on high alert across all combat fronts on the eve of the Jewish New Year, the military said on September 22.
It said the mobilisation was intended to carry out “defensive and offensive missions on all fronts during the holidays,” as Israeli Jews gather around Al-Aqsa compound.
The Jewish New Year runs from September 22 to September 24, followed by Yom Kippur on October 1, and Sukkot beginning October 6.
