Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in prison after a Paris court found him guilty of criminal conspiracy. The charges date back 20 years to Sarkozy’s time as France’s Interior Minister, during which his aides tried to procure funds for his 2007 presidential bid from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Sarkozy is expected to appeal the conviction. Randolph Nogel has the story.
