Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted on charges of lying to Congress. He is accused of making false statements and obstructing justice during the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, which Donald Trump won. The federal prosecutor assigned to the case says Comey could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
Earlier, Trump took the unusual step of urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to take action against Comey and his perceived adversaries.
