The United Nations has urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to bring a lasting end to hostilities. Dozens were killed and may others injured in airstrikes and ground fighting in the worst violence between the two neighbors since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan four years ago. There were clashes at several points along the border. Both sides have agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire but key crossings at Chaman, Ghulam Khan and Torkham remain shut.
