The Israeli prime minister’s office says that Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the Rafah crossing to remain closed until further notice.
It comes just after an announcement from the Palestinian embassy in Egypt that the border crossing between Gaza and Egypt would reopen on Monday for Palestinians seeking to return to Gaza. It’s now unclear whether this will continue as planned.
The Rafah crossing is an important bottleneck for the flow of people and aid into Gaza as it’s not exclusively controlled by Israel.
