Hurricane Melissa is predicted to be one of the most powerful on record to hit Jamaica, and it has already caused fatalities in the Carribean. It was upgraded to a category five hurricane, the maximum strength, by the National Hurricane Center. The storm is expected to cause a "catastrophic situation" as countries prepare for landfall.
