Son of Jimmy Lai, Sebastien Lai, said he is "tremendously" grateful for Trump as the US president said he "will do everything" he can to see the release of his father.
Sebastien said, "this is about saving" his father’s life.
He has not been able to see his father, as speaking out on his behalf means he has not "been able to go back to Hong Kong".
If Jimmy Lai is not released now, he could "die in prison", says his son.
