Sudanese civilians are fleeing in large numbers as violence escalates between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces, with women reportedly targeted and atrocities committed. Humanitarian agencies, including the UN and Turkish Red Crescent, are providing aid, while the UN Human Rights Council has launched a fact-finding mission to investigate mass killings. Despite some military gains, there is little agreement on how to stop the conflict, and much more support is needed to prevent a worsening humanitarian catastrophe. Joel Flynn has the story.
