Brazil’s Lula and Belem’s mayor push back against Merz | DW News

Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany has caused outrage following his visit to the COP30 climate summit in Brazil.
Merz said that he and his delegation did not want to stay in Belém, the host city of the summit. Brazil’s president pushed back against the remarks. He said that Merz should have explored the city’s cultural scene before commenting. The chancellor’s spokesperson ruled out an apology
