With some drawing the global role of the dollar into question, we take a look at what innovations in cryptocurrencies will bring. Since Donald Trump took to the White House, the United States has pushed ahead on crypto legislation. A landmark law adopted in the summer, called the “Genius Act”, now regulates so-called “stablecoins” – crypto tokens that are marketed as digital cash. They could just entrench the global role of the dollar, offering access to dollar-like assets in countries where residents currently struggle to get their hands on good money. But are stablecoins actually good money?
