The latest Israeli attacks on Gaza occurred just days after the U.N. Security Council backed a resolution calling for peace in the Palestinian territory. The resolution calls for the deployment of an international stabilization force in Gaza and for Hamas to demilitarize. If these measures are successful, Israel is expected to withdraw.
