Pope Leo XIV visited Türkiye for a mission centered on diplomacy and interfaith dialogue, meeting with Turkish President Erdogan and underscoring the country’s role as a bridge between cultures. He led a significant prayer service in İznik and visited the Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul, also joining Patriarch Bartholomew in a declaration aimed at strengthening Christian unity. As he travelled on to Lebanon, the Vatican highlighted Türkiye’s importance in efforts to promote regional peace and dialogue. Rumesya Codar reports Istanbul.
