Shortages of food, fuel, and clean water have become widespread in the aftermath of back-to-back cyclones that tore across Southeast Asia. Long lines have formed at gas stations, and reports of looting have been made. Climate experts have warned yet again that warming temperatures fuel heavier rainfall, as pressure mounts on Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto’s government to declare a state of emergency.
