Soldiers appeared on Benin’s state television Sunday claiming to have seized power, suspended the constitution and dissolved state institutions — but authorities later said the attempted coup was swiftly foiled.
The group, calling itself the “Military Committee for Refoundation,” accused President Patrice Talon’s government of failing to contain escalating security threats in the north.
