Badenoch pushes Starmer on ‘caretaker’ leader status at PMQs

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch asks the prime minister why Labour backbenchers are calling him a "caretaker" prime minister.

Sir Keir Starmer claims his backbenchers are "very proud" of the budget, before claiming it’s Badenoch trying to save her job.

"The only person who doesn’t want the prime minister’s job is the chancellor, she’s just trying to cling on to her own," Badenoch says. "Isn’t it time, Mr Speaker, that the prime minister admits that Labour isn’t working?"

In his response, Starmer says Badenoch is "living proof you can say whatever you like when nobody is listening to anything you have to say", before bringing up Badenoch’s support for Liz Truss and saying the Tory leader is "clinging on to Reform".
