Nick Reiner, the son of film director Rob Reiner, has been arrested after his parents were found stabbed to death in their home in Los Angeles.
The US president reacted to the death of Mr Reiner in a scathing attack on Truth Social, calling him a "tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star".
Mr Trump said Reiner and his wife died "reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS".
