Israel is moving ahead with a large-scale plan to build nearly 9,000 illegal settlement units on the land of the former Jerusalem Airport in occupied East Jerusalem. The expansion comes as settlement approvals across the occupied West Bank reach record levels. Experts warn the project would isolate Palestinian neighbourhoods and further undermine the possibility of a future Palestinian state, as international law deems all settlement activity illegal.
