Dozens of angry customers gathered outside a Sparkasse branch in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on December 30 after thieves took advantage of the quiet Christmas holiday period to drill through a wall into the bank’s vault, stealing over $35 million worth of cash, jewellery, gold, and other valuables from customers’ safe-deposit boxes.
