Why US military personnel have left Qatar base as a ‘precaution’ | DW News

Human rights groups say more than 2,500 people have been killed since anti-government protests erupted in Iran some three weeks ago. The Iranian government has been carrying out a vicious crackdown on the demonstrations, the largest the country has seen in years. The US has threatened to intervene. Donald Trump has warned Tehran the US will take ‘very strong action’ if the regime executes protesters.

Meanwhile, Iranian Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi has urged the Trump administration to take action to protect civilians. She told DW’s Mitra Shod-jaie from our Farsi Service how President Trump could best help.
