Trump mocks Macron’s sunglasses in Davos speech

US President Donald Trump mocked French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday over the aviator sunglasses Macron wore during his speech at Davos the previous day.

Macron’s office said the dark, reflective sunglasses—worn during an indoor address—were intended to protect his eyes due to a burst blood vessel.

Trump also repeated a claim that he had threatened the French leader with tariffs if Paris did not drastically increase its drug prices. The official Elysee account responded by calling the statement “fake news” in a post shared on X.
