Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham has announced he is seeking a return to Parliament – but does have bigger ambitions?
He’s sought permission from Labour’s National Executive Committee to enter the selection process to run as a candidate for the Labour Party in the upcoming Gorton and Denton by-election.
If approved, it sets Mr Burnham up for a potential return to Westminster and with it a possible challenge to Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership.
