Denmark accused of forcibly taking Greenlandic children

“It is not okay to take a newborn child from a mother. This has to stop”

Did you know that Denmark has been accused of forcibly taking Inuit children from their families following so-called “parenting competency tests?”

On average, Greenlandic families are six times more likely than Danish parents to have their children removed by welfare services.

Najannguaq Hegelund tells TRT World that the Danish welfare system has a long history of racism against Inuit people—stereotyping Greenlanders as alcoholics, denying live interpretation, and applying European norms in parenting assessments.
