A disabled US citizen, Wael Tarabishi, pleaded with ICE last November to release his father—his primary caregiver—who was detained in October. His father was never released, and Wael died weeks later, on January 23.
The family also pleaded with ICE to allow the father to attend his son’s funeral, scheduled for Thursday, January 29, but the request was denied.
According to local news reports, ICE officials said Maher Tarabishi was detained due to alleged association with the Palestine Liberation Organisation, a claim rejected by the Tarabishi family.
