Sir Keir Starmer has defended his trip to China, after being warned by Donald Trump that having closer ties with Beijing was "very dangerous".
The prime minister told Sky News the US president was probably talking about Canada rather than Britain.
He also said he had brought up the subject of the jailed Briton Jimmy Lai.
