French President Emmanuel Macron has awarded one of France’s highest honours to Ali Akbar, a 74-year-old newspaper seller who has spent more than five decades traversing Paris’ Latin Quarter, offering daily papers to cafe patrons.
Akbar was formally named a Knight of the Grand Order of Merit at the French Presidential Palace, an honour recognising exceptional service to France in both civilian and military roles.
