Japan’s conservative prime minister Sanae Takaichi has secured a landslide election victory, allowing her to govern the country more freely. Results show her LDP party winning 316 seats, up from the previous 198, giving it a much higher proportion of the Lower House. Japan’s stock exchange has reached new highs, and the yen recovered some ground. David Caprara reports from the Japanese city of Osaka.
