Minister Alex Davies-Jones has spoken to Sky News about the Chagos Islands agreement, after Donald Trump pulled his support for it.
The government’s position appears to be they can convince the president to change his mind again.
Davies-Jones said: "We are working closely with the Americans, you know, the first meeting that the prime minister had with president Trump, he stated that this was a good deal, this was a good lease.
"Just two weeks ago, again, he reiterated that this was the best deal on the table. And just this week, the US administration stated that this was an important deal and they backed it. So we will continue to have those conversations."
