Bridget Phillipson has told Sky News that the government plans to release documents relating to the vetting of Peter Mandelson.
It comes after Mr Mandelson left police custody following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Mr Mandelson has previously denied any wrongdoing.
