NATO air defence intercepted and shot down an Iranian ballistic missile, which was heading towards Türkiye, Turkish Defence Ministry officials said on Wednesday.
Ragip Soylu says the incident came as a surprise, noting Türkiye had been trying to mediate between the parties before the escalation, speaking to Yusuf Erim during TRT World’s rolling coverage of the war on Iran.
He also explains how Ankara’s contingency plans and NATO radar systems helped respond quickly to the potential ballistic threat.
