A giant steel pipe suddenly emerged from the ground on a highway in Osaka, Japan on March 12, rising about 13 metres above ground and causing road closures and traffic disruption. Measuring about 27 metres long and 3.5 metres in diameter, it was spotted by a passerby and reported to police. Authorities reduced the exposed section to 1.6 metres.
