Gender equality campaigner Patsy Stevenson, who was arrested at the Sarah Everard vigil, has said she has not seen any improvement in the police force in five years, despite a major overhaul.
She told Sky News: "It’s been five years on and I’ve not seen any change. I actually go to demos quite often and I’ve seen police acting appallingly especially to protesters."
Stevenson also warned that for trust in the police to be restored, officers must actually "understand" the issues and "lower their defences" – rather than just acknowledge there are problems.
