Rubio expects war to end ‘weeks, not months’ | BBC News

The US expects to end its operation in Iran in "weeks, not months", US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in France

He said the US can achieve its goals "without any ground troops" being deployed to Iran and he added Tehran may decide to set up a tolling system for the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian state media has reported claims made by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that US-Israeli strikes are targeting civilian sites.

Araghchi said two of Iran’s largest steel factories, a power plant and civilian nuclear sites were targeted and his country will "exact a heavy price"

Meanwhile, Israel said it hit the Arak heavy water plant in central Iran.

Several Gulf nationals have also reported fresh strikes and interceptions – the UAE said its air defences engaged ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran.
