You’ve heard about the risks of a Chinese invasion or blockade of Taiwan. But another, gray-zone scenario is getting increasingly serious attention from experts and governments: Beijing imposing a “quarantine” on Taiwan. This could enable China to demonstrate control over Taiwan while presenting its actions to the world as wholly unthreatening. In this special interview, DW’s Richard Walker breaks down this scenario with Rush Doshi, China specialist in the National Security Council in the Biden administration.
