"We are staying in Lebanon in a reinforced security zone. That’s where we are, and we are not leaving"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected Hezbollah’s ceasefire conditions, stating that Israel will not withdraw from Lebanese territory. In a speech on April 16, Netanyahu said he did not accept Hezbollah’s demand for Israel to retreat to the internationally recognised border. He announced that Israel will maintain a "reinforced security zone" in southern Lebanon ten kilometres thick, signalling his intent for Israeli forces to continue occupying southern Lebanon.
Israel has continuously breached the ceasefire that took place on April 16, 22:00 GMT, with the Lebanese army and state media reporting ongoing offences on southern Lebanon as of April 17.
