Shooting suspect charged after attempted Trump assassination | BBC News

A man has been charged with attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump after a shooting occurred during the White House correspondents’ dinner.

Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from California, allegedly crossed multiple state lines in an attempt to assassinate the president, according to federal prosecutor Jocelyn Ballantine.

In an interview after the shooting, Trump said he was "not worried" during the shooting – although authorities believe the president and other senior government figures were targets.
