Smoke billowed over southern Lebanon after Israeli forces reportedly carried out strikes using phosphorus in the Yahmar al Shaqif area of Nabatieh.
The chemical substance ignites when exposed to oxygen and can set homes, agricultural areas, and other civilian objects on fire. It’s against international law to use it in areas with civilians. The attacks came despite an extended ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump on April 24.
