German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a mediator for Ukraine: Merz told press the EU will "decide itself" who negotiates on its behalf. Putin had proposed the disgraced former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, a personal friend of Putin. Meanwhile, Russia conducted the worst drone attacks gainst Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
