The New York City Police Department (NYPD) crushed approximately 200 illegal motorbikes and scooters on May 13 as part of its campaign against unlicensed vehicles. At a press event in Staten Island, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the department has seized more than 5,700 “two-wheeled menaces” so far this year. Officials described the operation as a major step in removing illegal mopeds and scooters from the city’s streets.
