Gaza orphans run marathon to commemorate 78th Nakba anniversary

One hundred children took part in a marathon in Gaza on May 15 to mark the International Day of Families and the 78th anniversary of the Nakba. Organised by the Zainab Foundation, the race provides vital psychosocial support for children orphaned during the ongoing offensive.

The event commemorates the Nakba, or "catastrophe", where Israel carried out mass ethnic cleansing and violent displacement of Palestinians from their lands and property, and the systematic suppression of their society, culture, and national identity.

Participants highlighted the marathon as a message of resilience, showcasing an enduring commitment to life despite widespread destruction.
