Iran: Can diplomacy succeed when both sides keep hedging their positions? | DW News

After months of conflict, the United States and Iran are exploring a deal that could pause hostilities and open the door to nuclear negotiations. But threats of further escalation still accompany diplomatic language, blurring the line between negotiation and coercion. Israel, deeply sceptical of Iran’s intentions, is wary of any agreement that does not decisively curb Tehran’s military capabilities – and could yet emerge as a key spoiler.
