AI is getting much better at hacking and fast. Sky News technology correspondent Rowland Manthorpe examines new evidence showing how models including Anthropic’s Mythos and OpenAI’s GPT 5.5-Cyber are becoming dramatically more capable at cyber-attacks.
Using data from the UK AI Security Institute, the Center for AI Standards and Innovations (CAISI) and others, he explains why this is no longer just a warning about one powerful model, but a much bigger industry-wide shift. He also looks at why open-source models mainly coming from China could soon put these capabilities into much wider circulation, raising the pressure to patch vulnerable software fast.
