At least 21 people were killed and several others injured after a fire swept through a multi storey building in Malviya Nagar, southern New Delhi, on June 3. The building housed a restaurant on the ground floor and residential units above. Fire crews rescued more than 40 people, with local residents also helping to evacuate those trapped inside. Some of the victims were foreign nationals who had travelled to India for medical treatment. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
