Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Tirana on Wednesday against a planned $4 billion luxury tourism project linked to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Demonstrators marched under the slogan "Albania is not for sale", opposing the development of a large scale resort in the ecologically sensitive Zvernec-Narta wetland and lagoon area near the coastal city of Vlora.
Albanian anti corruption prosecutors have frozen the bank accounts of a landholding company linked to the project as part of a widening investigation into allegedly fraudulent property titles. The company recently purchased beachfront land in the protected Zvernec area, where Kushner’s firm plans to build the luxury resort.
