A leading referee from Somalia has been denied entry to the US for the World Cup finals.
Omar Artan was stopped at Miami International Airport as he arrived for the event.
Artan was named Africa’s best referee in 2025 and was in line to become the first person from Somalia to officiate a World Cup match.
Somalia has been on the US list of "fully suspended" countries for travel into the country since June 2025.
