June’s full moon, also called the Strawberry moon, lit up the skies across several countries, including the US, Greece and Portugal. Named after the short strawberry harvest season rather than for its colour, the first full moon of summer was seen on June 29. Coming just after the June solstice, this year’s Strawberry moon appeared unusually low on the horizon, making it look larger and more golden to observers in the Northern Hemisphere.
