Germany’s far-right AfD is holding its national party conference amid huge demonstrations. Non-violent resistance groups blocked roads leading to the venue in Erfurt, eastern Germany, while police clashed with Antifa groups who had promised to attack the gathering. A massive security operation ensured that the meeting began on time with just a few skirmishes.
