At least 28 people were killed after a fire tore through a multi-storey shoe factory in Jinjiang, in southeastern China’s Fujian province, on July 9. State media said 239 people were inside the factory when the blaze broke out, with 213 evacuated while dozens were initially reported missing. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
