Thousands of people marched across Istanbul’s July 15 Martyrs Bridge to commemorate the martyrs of the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016. The bridge, formerly known as the Bosphorus Bridge, was the site where 34 civilians were killed after soldiers linked to the FETO terrorist organisation opened fire on people trying to stop the coup. It was later renamed the July 15 Martyrs Bridge in honour of those who lost their lives in defending the homeland.
