A scuffle broke out after descendants of Nazi opponents tried to remove a wreath laid by the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party at a ceremony in Berlin on July 20 marking the failed 1944 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Gemma Poerzgen, granddaughter of Nazi opponent Heinrich Koerner, attempted to take the wreath while calling AfD a fascist party. Historian Tobias Koerner also clashed with a security guard during the incident.
