US President Donald Trump said the United States would strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain area "pretty soon and very heavily," describing it as the next target in Washington’s military campaign.
Trump suggested Iran may have moved nuclear centrifuges to the site but said the US was tracking the nuclear material instead. Pickaxe Mountain, near the heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, is a heavily fortified site with deeply buried tunnel complexes linked to Iran’s nuclear programme.
Experts assess that parts of the facility are beyond the reach of even the most powerful US bunker-buster bombs.
